STEPHEN SACKS - BSc (Hons) Ost Med D.O N.D

It is a pleasure to join the team at Back into Shape. I bring not only experience in Osteopathy and Naturopathy but an understanding of the unit of body and ‘soul’.
Prior to and during osteopathy, I practiced as a rabbi in two of the biggest synagogues in the U.K. I firmly believe in the naturopathic connective triad of Physical, Emotional and Spiritual.
Though my focus is on structural health, I try to assist the ultimate goal of total body wellbeing through physical health.
About me...
I have an expertise in electrotherapy and am Clinical Director of MaxiMyo, a company that has launched the only medically approved muscle stimulation device of its kind in the world.
With this unique apparatus, we are able to increase muscle tone and quicken healing time due to joint injuries or strengthen areas such as the back, to prevent further injuries.
We use this apparatus with a focus on knee, shoulder and back problems. I am married to Naomi, a GP, and have two children.
Stephen’s advise on the perfect posture
Follow these simple steps to quickly improve your posture:
1) Bring your feet parallel, not turned out, and about hip width apart. Bringing your feet parallel engages the muscles in the front of your thighs and keeps your hips, knees and ankles in proper alignment.
2) Reach up through the top of your head, feeling your spine lengthen, getting tall.
3) Bring your pelvis to a neutral position. To find this position, tuck your tailbone slightly until your pelvis is directly over your thighs, so there is no bend in your hip joints, and there's less sway in your low back. As you tuck your tailbone, you should begin to feel your abdominal muscles start to engage.
4) Draw your shoulder blades back towards each other allowing the shoulders to naturally follow. Your hands should fall in line with the seams of your pants.
5) Tuck your chin in level, keeping your head directly over the spot between your shoulders, not forward or back.
Keep this posture for minute or two. At the beginning it is difficult but will get easier and you will eventually find it more difficult to slump. You can play a game with yourself holding this posture as you walk between lampposts.
MIRA BEATTIE - colonic hydrotherapist & Homeopath
I am delighted to join the prestigious and internationally renowned Back into Shape team. At the clinic as everyone is committed and very passionate about educating patients on how to get healthier and happier. In my experience ultimate health comes from the balance of mind, body and soul. Make this year the year you start to work on yourself and learn how to achieve that balance with personalised advice and gentle but effective treatments such as colonics that will energise you and help clear your body and mind.
For many people, digestive health is a matter of great concern, and many women and men suffer from constipation, diarrhoea, IBS, bloating, itching and other complaints that just won't go away. In addition, we are bombarded by the information about what we can and cannot do: how much water we should drink, what we should eat, how to stay young and happy or what a person's weight should be. Is being vegetarian a good thing for everyone? Is sashimi and miso the new miracle diet? Indeed, finding your own way in the labyrinth of facts, figures and assumptions is sometimes very difficult.
Why not try our detox package that will help you beat the winter blues and show you that it is possible to feel more energetic and lighter just when you thought “I guess I am older now and I just can not feel the same way as I did ten years ago”. It will give you the boost you long for and will remind you: your health is your wealth.
